When studying at a Advanced level, students must often decide between a private teacher and private lessons, or an institute and open lessons. What factors may be important? Why a private teacher? Why an institute? Why not? What's the difference? Is either worth the time and/or money?

Mind Your Language, defining your School's Language Mission


Essentially no schools in Chile have defined their "Englishness", and many if not most use terms such as English as a Second language (E2L /ESL), English as a First Language (E1L) and bilingual freely, loosely and interchangeably. Defining "who we are and what business we are in" affects and determines the role and profile of English the school, the programme, contents and methodologies, evaluation, staff selection, publications - everything in fact!

English for School Administrators

Schools can be run, led, administered and governed and the differences are not always clear. In small schools, one person may perform all these functions, while in large schools and school corporations, several people may be responsible for all or even for each. While these functions are interesting to review, the English involved is both general and specialised. These Advanced English sessions develop and extend the English of, for and about school administration.

Visual Language : a plug-and-lesson related to green energy

Teachers new to KS3, GCSE, IGCSE or IBMYP English programmes may lack the knowledge and/or experience needed to incorporate visual language in their classes. This interactive online seminar provides a double-period ready-to-use lesson plan with the original multimodal text (video and audio), transcript, language development activities and visual language teaching points with the necessary underlying conceptual content.
